Program Highlights: Brooklyn Prospect is a vibrant learning community. We currently serve a diverse student population and are growing by a grade – about 100 students - each year. We will graduate our first senior class in 2016. Our faculty brings to us an extraordinary amount and breadth of experience. Their energy, combined with our academic program has captured the interest of our district families and flooded our applicant pool. We offer five core subjects: Math, English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, and Language B (Spanish and Mandarin). Additionally we offer Visual Art and Design and physical education or dance. Using the pillars of the International Baccalaureate program ("IB") to develop our academic program, we aspire to guide each of our students towards graduation with an IB diploma. We support the development of our students’ literacy and study skills through a well developed advisory program. Each faculty member works with 10-12 advisees, helping each student discover his or her personal learning style, build foundational study skills and develop positive reading habits—all of which contribute significantly to students’ ability and willingness to learn. We focus on interdisciplinary teaching and learning. With shared classrooms and planning time built into the daily schedule, our teachers are encouraged to help students make connections across disciplines and to make student learning relevant to their lives. We are confident that our collaborative team culture, our extensive professional development opportunities and our commitment to excellence in the workplace make Brooklyn Prospect an appealing place to work.
