Program Structure

  • Two-Year Program: The program begins in 11th grade and culminates with IB exams in May of 12th grade (though classes continue into June).
  • Six IB Courses: Students take a full schedule of six IB courses, along with completing the core requirements of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS).
  • Standardized Exams: Students' performance on IB exams determines whether they earn the IB Diploma.

Eligibility

All Brooklyn Prospect students are eligible for the IB Diploma Program, provided they meet the academic requirements. Those not eligible for the diploma program are considered IB Core students. They receive credit for IB courses but may not complete all the extracurricular components (CAS and extended essay). Still, every BPHS student gets the IB experience.
