Brooklyn Prospect High School Students Take Flight in Freshkills Park Research
Brooklyn Prospect High School seniors got their hands dirty for science! These IB Environmental Systems and Societies students spent several mornings in October exploring Freshkills Park, the city’s iconic landfill-turned-park.
They conducted hands-on research, collecting data on insect populations and contributing to the Freshkills Park Alliance habitat assessment curriculum. Our BPHS students were featured on the official Freshkills Park Instagram: “We had not one but THREE field trips from our absolutely FAVORITE school, Brooklyn Prospect High School this week! There’s nothing more rewarding than giving young people the chance to engage with the natural world while learning about sustainability, climate resiliency, and equitable natural resources management.” 🦋🌱 #FreshkillsPark #CitizenScience #BrooklynProspectHS

BPHS Hawks learning to SAVE LIVES!
A huge thanks are to the Fire Department of New York for teaching our students essential CPR/AED skills and to our teammates Adrian Sealy and George Scott for making the collaboration come to fruition.
Hands-on training like this empowers our students to make a real difference in their community. The training included students in Mr. Sealy’s and Mr. Scott’s Health Classes. #BPHSHawks #FDNY #CPRsaveslives #community
